MLP to close Aug. 20th

Margaret Lindley Park will close at the end of the day Thursday, August 20, so that the wall separating the pond from Hemlock Brook can be replaced. The wall has been seriously undermined by storms, and if it fails the pond will disappear into the brook. The timing is dictated by the level of the brook, environmental regulations, and the upcoming end of the federal fiscal year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is funding 75% of the cost, which must be billed by September 30 else the money is lost. Total project cost is estimated at $188,498.
