Teams of student volunteers will provide basic comfort measures such as installing window kits, door sweeps, hot water pipe insulation, energy-efficient light bulbs, & more on Sat. Nov, 16. All materials are paid for by the Williams College Zilkha Center for Environmental Initiatives. Each group will be led by a trained team leader.

Homeowners who are seeking to lower their energy costs and who cannot weatherize themselves are encouraged to sign up for this free program. If you are interested in having volunteers come to your house to weatherize through the Winter Blitz, please contact the 2019 Winter Blitz Planning Committee by one of three ways by Nov. 1:

The program is a collaboration between Williams College, Bennington College, MCLA, and is accepting homes in Williamstown, Pownal, North Adams, Adams, Bennington, and northern Lanesboro.

League of Women Voters is sponsoring a Candidate Forum for the 2 contested races for the 2, newly-created, seats on the Williamstown Fire District Prudential Committee at 7:00pm, Tue, Oct. 22 at W’town Town Hall.  Public is invited.  The Forum will be rebroadcast on WilliNet TV channel 1303 & available on willinet.org.

Candidates for one 18-month term are David Moresi & Gerard Smith.

Candidates for one 30-month term are Richard Reynolds & Bruce Macdonald.

Fire District election takes place at WES on Tue, Nov 19, 3:30-8:00pm.

Williams in the World, 1 of 8 strategic working groups, is asking local residents to think out loud about how they could imagine Williams & its students, faculty, staff becoming more fully & effectively engaged in the community … and farther afield.

There are three ways for members of the public to participate.

The goal of the strategic planning process is to map the road of major initiatives at the college for the next 10 to 15 years.

A Coordinating Committee guides the process by articulating goals; confirming areas of interest and convening subcommittees to explore them through targeted outreach and feedback; and, finally, knitting the results into a plan to support the college’s educational ambitions.

Eight working groups are focused this fall on gathering input about various aspects of the college. The groups are Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Faculty and Staff Development; Governance, Learning Beyond the Classroom; Student Learning; Sustainability; The Built Environment; and Williams in the World.

The final plan is expected to be produced throughout the winter and spring and finalized around the end of the academic year.

The Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) celebrates its fall lineup of exhibitions with complimentary food & drinks, live music & student performances on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event is free & open to the public.
