Window on Williams – Bennington-Williamstown Trolley Path by Petra Baldwin ’21, Mohammed Memfis ’21, and Henry Newell ’21

Petra Baldwin ‘21, Mohammed Memfis ‘21, and Henry Newell ‘21 addressed three barriers to development of the interstate multi-use Trolley Path: impacts to rivers and wetlands, viability as a year-round transportation route, and impacts to abutting landowners. The students presented their findings to the 12/17/20 public meeting of the Trolley Path Steering Committee of Bennington County.

Window on Williams – Cannabis Cultivation for Farm Viability by Rosa Kirk-Davidoff ’21 and Davis Collison ’21

Rosa Kirk-Davidoff ’21 and Davis Collison ’21 present a feasibility study and business plan assessing the commercial viability of an outdoor cannabis growing operation at a local farm. Their work was conducted for a local farmer Averill Cook and local cannabis grower Jacob Zieminski. The students originally presented their findings at the 12/16/20 meeting of the Williamstown Agricultural Commission.

Window on Williams – Williamstown Working Toward Zero Waste by Niku Darafshi ’21 and Kelly Martin ’22

Niku Darafshi ’21 and Kelly Martin ’22 present their plans for a food waste composting program for the Town of Williamstown. With the goals of keeping food scraps out of the waste stream, reducing methane emissions and producing nutrient-rich soil, they worked under the guidance of Linda Cernik of the Northern Berkshire Solid Waste Management District (NBSWMD) and local resident, Ann McCallum. They presented their findings at the 12/16/20 meeting of the NBWSMD.
